Preterion is an end-to-end IT service management provider from Sydney, Australia. The company specializes at providing various IT security services, cloud transition for businesses of all sizes using bespoke cloud management solutions, and virtual private server management. The customer wanted us to assist with a wide range of tasks to augment their internal team with our skillset.

Project requirements

The scope of IT Svit team involvement was the following:

  • Design and implementation of various cloud infrastructures
  • Bug fixes and deployment automation for multiple apps
  • CRM development and deployment
  • Multiple IT infrastructure management and optimization tasks (implementing xWiki backups, Your Backup tool, implementing Baruwa Spam Protection solution, etc.)

Project results

IT Svit has handled all the tasks successfully and currently provides ongoing support for various Preterion projects through a ticketing system. This customer is fully satisfied with our services and is able to engage with multiple projects like:

  • cloud architecture delivery and management
  • web development and QA
  • various software maintenance and updates.

This allowed Preterion to engage with the projects that would otherwise be outside the scope of their abilities, as well as decrease the ticket processing time by 50% and average operating expenses by 25-30%.

RealCarBrand — an IoT and Big Data-based project

Project description

The solution consists of the CCTV cameras installed at the key roads of the city, paired with Raspberry Pi 2 or 3, and 3 or 4G modems. The cameras take photos of each passing car, the IoT node identifies the brand and the model and this information is sent to the cloud processing server. This way, a huge dataset of actually used car brands and models is formed real-time, which can be leveraged to deliver the predictive analysis for the market, like producing certain amounts of spare parts, opening new service centers and certifying the technicians for them.

Project requirements

In order for the system to work we had to ensure the following functionality:

  • IoT side had to be able to take the photos of the cars, identify the car model using OCR (Optical Character Recognition), send the report to the cloud server and delete the photo afterwards to comply with GDPR.
  • Back-end side had to be able to accept the reports, filter and aggregate them and store the data in a  NoSQL database
  • Front-end side had to be able to represent the charts and reports and provide the end user APIs to interact with any third-party analytical system

Project results

The solution works as follows:

  1. CCTV cameras are installed at the key roads of the city, paired with Raspberry Pi 2 or 3, and 3 or 4G modems

  4. This data can be leveraged to deliver the predictive analysis for the market, like producing certain amounts of spare parts, opening new service centers and certifying the technicians for them.

The system we developed has shown good results during the alpha-testing phase. One IoT node is able to identify about 150 cars per minute (rush hour on a three-lane road), which makes the system quite feasible from the analytical perspective.

Backend Infrastructure Design & Development

Project description

SymplyFi is a telecom product of an IT Svit customer, The Network Cloud Company. They needed to upgrade their cloud infrastructure and automate the product provisioning and deployment. They wanted to redesign the existing system in order to improve the product stability and performance.

Project requirements

IT Svit had to handle the following tasks:

  • Assist to design & implement the cost-effective, performant and secure infrastructure for VoIP communication
  • Automate the provisioning of the backend infrastructure services
  • Design an architecture for a CRM to automate the customer provisioning
  • Design & implement the internal system for managing multiple third-party modules

Project results

Outsourcing this project to IT Svit helped The Network Cloud Company achieve the following results:

  • Product provisioning time shortened from 1,5 weeks to 1 hour, with the infrastructure automation IT Svit has done
  • SymplyFi can drive much more value to their customers now, due to being able to provision the product 200-300 times a month, instead of 5-6 monthly deployments
  • Outsourcing the system architecture design allowed SymplyFI to save 30-35% of the budget and free the internal resources for more important tasks.

Trip-planning portal development with Python and AngularJS

Project description

One of IT Svit customers is a marketing and advertising agency in Seattle, US. They needed a full-scale team of developers to build them the frontend and back-end for a trip planning portal and a travel website, as well as delivering the cloud infrastructure for these projects.

Project requirements

IT Svit had to ensure the following:

  • The portal had to be able to interact with other travel industry tools through an API
  • The travel website had to allow the customers to provide feedback while remaining anonymous
  • IT Svit had to provide the marketing support, content creation and technical documentation for these websites

Project results

This project required the full cycle of software development and IT Svit delivered in full:

  • Full-stack development for both websites,
  • Cloud infrastructure design for their deployment,
  • Ongoing QA and improvement of the services.

 

The products are currently in the stage of pre-release beta-testing and some investors expressed their interest in purchasing the platform.

Using Big Data for a cattle-breeding concern

Project description

IT Svit had a customer from the United Kingdom, a stock-breeding concern specializing at breeding pigs. The customer had a centralized reporting system in place, which allowed the farmers to report the farm operational parameters like:

  • The quantity of livestock,
  • The numbers of animals gotten ill,
  • Symptoms of the disease
  • Types of medication administered
  • How many animals recuperated or perished after treatment

Project requirements

The customer wanted us to provide the following services:

  • Development of a Big Data solution for processing the data inputted by the farmers and delivering actionable business insights based on it
  • Improvement of the efficiency of treatment by decreasing the time needed by the vets to assess the situation when the stock becomes ill
  • A configurable and simple dashboard enabling the users to visualize the data in the form of linear graphs and compare multiple graphs with each other.

Project results

After we trained the Machine Learning (ML) algorithm based on the historical data, the system delivered the following benefits:

  • Diagnosys of the disease based on the symptoms,
  • Recommendations for treatment at once,
  • Prescriptive analytics helped the customer to reduce the time between identifying the disease and applying the treatment,
  • Significantlyhigher percentages of recuperated livestock (approx 40% more)
  • Increased business profitability.

OwnSearch: Web Scraper Software Development

Project description

Lots of IT Svit customers faced the need to find some specific information on their corporate websites fast. Platform-specific search engines were not perfect, so we decided to create a bespoke web scraper tool that can be added to a particular website and will create custom search indexes for any website fast.

IT Svit needed to overcome the following challenges:

  • Web crawlers must be lightweight and simple, yet efficient
  • The search index must be built and processed quickly
  • The tools must have convenient user interface
  • The tools must have low hardware requirements

Project results

IT Svit developed the required web scrapers and other Big Data solutions to enable our customer to form the data set for training their search engine. Toweya provided the basic specifications and we helped them create an easy to use and performant search engine platform, which enables incremental web search and provides precise results.

One of IT Svit customers required to build a user-friendly news aggregator platform from scratch. He wanted each customer to be able to form a unique, personalized news feed, based on their preferences and search filters.

The customer wanted each customer to be able to form a unique, personalized news feed, based on their preferences and search filters. IT Svit had to provide the following features:

  • The news data must be relevant, meaning the data set must be frequently updated
  • The news must be categorized to simplify the navigation and personalize the user experience
  • To be valuable, only the primary source of the news must be listed, not the duplicates

Project results

IT Svit has built a powerful, flexible and highly performant news aggregation platform. Our subscribers could embed our news feed code into their websites and have the latest niche news related to their industry shown on respective websites.

AWS Infrastructure / Database Design & Development

Project description

Everdapt is a web and mobile app developer from France, who wanted IT Svit to provision the AWS infrastructure for running their web app that uses the Neo4j database. The problem the customer encountered was the fact Neo4j does not have native scalability and redundancy features, so this functionality had to be implemented.

Project requirements

IT Svit teamhad to deliver the following list of tasks:

  • Design the cloud architecture for deploying a web solution, using a specific database – Neo4j
  • Ensure the system scalability and fault-tolerance
  • Ensure the system security and redundancy
  • Prepare configuration and deployment scripts and guidelines

Project results

We have accomplished all the tasks within time and under budget. IT Svit team has achieved the following results:

  • We ensured the system scalability through using AWS Cloudfront CDN for front-end scaling and AutoScaling groups for back-end< cloud infrastructure components
  • The system is protected with a bastion host, ensuring the security of access<
  • The application runs on several nodes located in various Amazon availability zones behind an Amazon Load Balancer to ensure optimal performance
  • The system is modular, so even if one component fails, it does not impact the system performance and the faulty component is rebooted automatically

Cloud CMS Showcase Setup

Project description

The project goal was to build an out-of-the-box solution that uses the cloud technology to rapidly deliver scalable, easily configurable and manageable infrastructure to showcase a web-based CMS. We also had to improve the CMS structure and performance.

Project requirements

The main customer pains were the following:

  • The CMS itself is a monolith product built in Java, with more than 100 modules.
  • There are more than 15 processes interacting with each other, creating high workload.
  • A setup process was a real pain for the customers and required following a complicated checklist.

Project results

The product is now enterprise-grade and production-ready. The customers currently interested in the CMS are a truck manufacturing giant, several leading media and a popular retailer, just to list a few. The process of the CMS setup and deployment is now fully-automated and the product has also got features like:

  • 3 commands to deploy the CMS,
  • Deployment time shortened from 4 hours to 15 minutes,
  • Auto-scaling of the cluster nodes,
  • In-depth logging< and analytics,
  • Real-time monitoring and smart alerts
